Sedona Chef Lisa Dahl’s restaurants have earned her a national reputation as a restaurateur and gifted executive chef with a unique talent for combining “flavors” to create dining experiences worthy of audiences in New York, San Francisco and Chicago.
Opening to rave reviews, “Mariposa” Chef Dahl’s Latin Inspired Grill restaurant, which sits high on a hill with breath-taking views of Sedona’s iconic red rocks is all about creating an unforgettable experience. Understanding the elements that go into crafting a unique “night-on-the-town,” Lisa will be presenting her first “Live at Mariposa” event on Thursday evening, October 29th featuring two international touring artists, pianist Peter Kater and Native American flautist R. Carlos Nakai.
10 time Grammy nominee/multi-platinum selling Pianist/Composer Peter Kater has been a leading innovator of contemporary instrumental music for over 3 decades. His music has been heard all over the world from Healing Centers to the Olympics and Carnegie Hall. He has performed for presidents and dignitaries; scored the music for over 100 TV & Film productions including 11 On & Off-Broadway dramatic plays and is a proud recipient of the Environment Leadership Award from the United Nations.
Of Navajo-Ute heritage, R. Carlos Nakai is the world’s premier performer of the Native American flute. Originally trained in classical trumpet and music theory, Nakai began playing the traditional Native American flute in the early 1980s and released more than 50 albums in his career (with 40 on the Canyon Records label). Nakai has sold more than 4.3 million records and received 10 Grammy Award nominations; an honorary doctorate from Northern Arizona University and was inducted into the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame. In addition to his solo appearances throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan, Nakai has worked with guitarist William Eaton, flutist Paul Horn, composers James DeMars and Phillip Glass.
Reuniting after a ten-year hiatus to record “Ritual” an inspired album invoking the elements Kater and Nakai will be partnering with Chef Dahl to create an unforgettable evening of gourmet food, fine wines and world-renowned entertainment rarely found outside of cities like New York, Berlin and LA.
