1☆ DeFalco’s Italian Deli & Grocery

1☆ DeFalco’s Italian Deli & Grocery

2334 N Scottsdale Rd a133, Scottsdale, AZ 85257

If you’re shopping for authentic Italian groceries you’ll find a nice assortment of Italian wines but priced as if they are 1st Cru French wines. They have a large assortment of Italian imported jarred, canned and box foods and even some coffee beans sometimes. I like Lavazza coffee beans but sadly it’s all ground beans. There is a shortage of sandwich shops in Scottsdale so this brings in a lot of business for them. If Mona Lisa’s Deli from San Diego opened next door this shop would close down in 30 days. It’s obvious the owner a family man has never had any restaurant or kitchen training himself. The Italian Deli claims to be Italian but everyone there speaks Spanish. Uh? What? Yes, Spanish and it really reflects on the quality of food being served. The Deli potatoes salad is obviously done by an amateur, their Pizza hands down could not be eaten and we had to leave it there. The owner was standing right there and all he could say I guess they weren’t hungry. He didn’t bother asking if it was our pizza and if anything was wrong. I guess they don’t teach that in Italian cooking school to check why people won’t eat their food. Sandwiches are often times made wrong and the picture on their web site is highly suspect because none of their sandwiches look that good. Service and delivery of food is like Siesta time, and the cleanup people like to throw dishes in a big tub right next to where you are eating making you feel like you’re living with a slob next to your table. Prices are extraordinarily high for just a sandwich, chips, and a soda.  I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone visiting from out of town, it’s just so embarrassing to the real Italians back home. I can’t wait for an authentic Italian Deli to open soon, we really need one in Scottsdale. Is there a diamond I missed, yes they have plenty of parking.
